Leander van den Bos was born in 2005 and lives in Goes, the Netherlands. After two years of early music education (AMV) at the Zeeland Music School, he began studying the trumpet there, gaining several diplomas with distinction. At the age of eleven he started organ lessons with Rinus Verhage (Sommelsdijk). He later continued his organ studies with Jacob Schenk (Urk) and Evan Bogerd (Amsterdam), the latter preparing him for conservatoire entrance.
After choosing to study at Codarts Rotterdam, he currently receives tuition from Bas de Vroome, Zuzana Ferjencikova, Aart Bergwerff and Christian Schmitt, alongside improvisation lessons with Geerten Liefting and Hayo Boerema. In addition to his principal study in organ, he also takes piano lessons with Sara Gutierrez and studies basso continuo and music pedagogy with Bas de Vroome. Furthermore he studies choir-conducting with Wiecher Mandemaker.
Alongside his conservatoire studies, he has taken part in numerous private lessons and masterclasses with, among others, Ton Koopman, Silvia Márquez, Pieter van Dijk, Jos van der Kooy, Henk Verhoef, Vincent Dubois, Ben van Oosten, Nathan Laube and Stephen Tharp. He has also participated in masterclasses and competitions, winning two prizes.
As a concert organist, his activities have taken him to Belgium, Germany, Spain, England and Scotland. He also regularly accompanies choirs, soloists and symphony orchestras. Leander is active as a church organist at the Gasthuiskerk in Zierikzee and teaches around twenty pupils, mainly young organists. In 2026 Leander was appointed choirmaster in the Grote of Maria Magdalenakerk in Goes.
